Arbaaz Ensures Dolly Is Con-proof

Arbaaz Khan is on his way to revolutionise Bollywood and the way it functions. He has ensured that the members of his creative team, including the writer, director, composer and lyricist sign a legal document that states that he will not be held responsible if their work is found to be a copy or a rip-off of another work; they will have to take responsibility for it themselves.

When contacted, Arbaaz confirms the development, saying, “It’s unfair to a filmmaker. Why should he bear the brunt of court cases and monetary losses for someone elses misdoings? If Im told something is original, I dont have a choice but to believe what is said and use it. So, to avoid any such complications in the future, especially those arising during the release week of the film, Ive ensured that I have it in writing from everyone that their work is not copied.”

A few months ago, a story had begun to make rounds in the media. It insinuated that the producer-director-actors upcoming production Dolly Ki Doli with Sonam Kapoor playing a con bride was a rip-off of a Punjabi film called RSVP starring Neeru Bajwa that released on Diwali last year. Abhishek Dogra has shown me his script. It was registered in 2012, way before this film was made, informs Arbaaz. I have faith in him. Besides over the years, con brides, cops, lovers, traditions and rigid cultures have inspired so many films. Which one can you say has been copied from the others? he counter-questions.
